The harmful effects by COVID-19 are not limited to those directly related to the infection. The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a serious impact on the mental health of the general population. An increasing number of people are exhibiting signs of depression and an increase in suicides has also been noted around the world. Mental health issues may be linked to starting or increasing the use of addictive substances, such as tobacco, alcohol and drugs, along with increased overweight and obesity resulting from changes in eating habits. These issues can impact cardiovascular diseases because of worsened risk factor control (cited from https://www.ecrjournal.com/articles/coronavirus-disease-2019-psychological-stress-and-cardiovascular-diseases )

Users of new types of cigarettes such as heated tobacco products (HTP) and nicotine-containing e-cigarettes (END) are increasing in number, and it has been becoming a serious social problem. HTP/END are said to be associated with low exposure to harmful substances. However, they contain as much nicotine as paper-rolled cigarettes, an addictive substance that has a significant negative effect on the cardiovascular system. Now, once again, we need to raise awareness about the deep relationship between nicotine and cardiovascular disease. The World Heart Federation (WHF) emphasizes the link between nicotine and cardiovascular disease and released a new policy brief titled: "Nicotine and Cardiovascular Health: When Poison is Addictive"

第23回国際心血管薬物療法学会開催のお知らせ

2018年5月26日（土）、27日（日）、京都にて第23回国際心血管薬物療法学会（ISCP, International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy）を開催することとなりました。
ISCP国際学会の日本における開催は1989年（京都大学 河合忠一名誉教授）、2001年（京都大学 篠山重威教授）以来、17年ぶりとなります。世界心臓連合の事務局長であるJean-Luc Eisele 氏、ヨーロッパ心臓病学会（ESC）心血管薬物療法ワーキンググループ（EuroCVP）次期会長のHeinz Drexel教授、ESC Scientific Affairs副理事長のLina Badimon 教授、ISCP国際学会の過去理事長（イギリスJuan Carlos Kaski教授、ルーマニアGeorge A. Dan教授、アルゼンチンFelipe Martinez教授、スペインAntoni Martinez Rubio教授）、次期理事長（スイスAugusto Gallino教授）、世界心臓連合元理事長のMario Maranhao教授らをお迎えし、Up-to-date なセッションを企画しております。是非ご参集ください。
